Harvest Morning Itinerary

Here are the specifics and a little helpful information to prepare for picking grapes.

Arrival: Plan to be here by 7:00am. Park in the gravel lot beside the tasting room and meet us at the picnic tables out front. We’ll have coffee and a light snack waiting to help clear the morning cobwebs before we head into the vineyard.

We want to bring the grapes in before the heat, so starting early lets us get as much fruit as possible while it’s cool.

Conditions: Cool, dewy,  grassy and, of course, hilly. You’ll be standing on slopes and reaching into a damp grape canopy. Layers are helpful, and wear clothes you don’t mind getting a little dirty or stained.

Footwear: Waterproof shoes or boots will make the morning much more comfortable. We also recommend bringing a change of shoes and socks in case your feet get wet.

Hands: Garden gloves are great for warmth and grip. We’ll also have disposable nitrile gloves available to keep hands from getting sticky or stained.

Gear: We’ll provide pruning shears, but feel free to bring your favorite pair if you have them. Garden snips work just fine.

Water + Sun: Bring a water bottle, and consider a hat and sunscreen as the morning warms up.

Guidance: The Addison Farms team will give instructions at the start of the morning and will be nearby throughout harvest. Great wine starts with great fruit, so please ask anytime you’re unsure about what to pick or how to handle it.

Timing: We aim to finish field work around 10:00am, then gather for an early family-style lunch together. After lunch, our core crew will continue with sorting and processing in the cellar.

Compensation: $45 for the morning + lunch. We’re planning an easy, hearty lunch with vegetarian options available.
