Harvest Morning Itinerary

Some helpful information to prepare for picking grapes.

Arrival: 7:00am. We need to bring the grapes in before the heat, so starting at 7a let’s us get as much as we can while it is cool and still with enough daylight to see.

Conditions: Cool, dewy, and grassy. Our hillsides are, well, hilly - you’ll be standing on a slope and reaching into a moist canopy. Layers help.

Footware: Waterproof shoes/boots to keep your feet dry. We recommend bringing a change of shoes and socks in case your feet get wet.

Hands: Garden gloves are great for warmth/grip; we’ll also have disposable nitrile gloves to keep hands from getting sticky or stained.

Gear: We’ll have a limited supply of pruning shears, but bring your favorite pair if you like. Grab a bucket for clusters and be mindful to not overfill the buckets to help us move fruit without spills.

Guidance: Find Bill, Alex, Taylor, Shruthi or Jeff for instruction on where to pick and what to sort. Great wine starts with great fruit - ask questions anytime you’re not sure.

Timing: We aim to finish field work around 11:00am, before the day heats up. After that, our core crew continues the processing, sorting, and style decisions in the cellar.
